Ryne Pilcher
Kickboxing, Youth Program, and Assistant BJJ Instructor
Ryne is a Brown Belt under Professor Jeffery Boudreaux. He first found his passion for fitness in middle school when he was recognized as the first student to run a mile in under 6 minutes. That passion soon led him to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu just after graduating.
Coach Ryne has always enjoyed helping kids and quickly began assisting in our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fundamentals class as well as our youth Jiu-Jitsu program. He has coached our youth program for 6 years now. His demeanor and personality helps him relate to kids while capturing their attention so they can get the most out of every class. He has an incredible talent for relating to and teaching beginners & children, displaying patience and enthusiasm while breaking down techniques into easily understandable steps. Always enthusiastic, more than anything Ryne enjoys helping children and adults find the same joy of physical fitness that he’s found and encouraging them to become better versions of themselves.
Coach Ryne has also been coaching our Kickboxing program for almost 10 years now. His extremely high energy makes his classes infectious and exciting. He is a sticker for technique and makes sure you progresses each day both technically and physically towards your goals.

Elise Boudreaux
Nutritional Advisor & Program Developer | Kickboxing & Assistant BJJ Instructor
Elise, being a life long athlete in soccer, track and field, and CrossFit found Kickboxing 5 years ago. She immediately brought her passion for physical fitness and health into coaching Kickboxing. She has been coaching Kickboxing at Unit 2 for 2 years now and has brought her passion for high intensity training into coaching Kickboxing. Coach Elise can also counsel and help members put together a proper fitness regiment and nutrition plan.
Coach Elise is also a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has been training for 2 years now. She assists us in our BJJ Fundamentals class, our youth program, and our Women’s Only classes. She has accomplished quite a lot in 2 years:

- 1st Place Charlotte Open
- 1st Place Portland Open
- 3rd Place Foley Open
Her high energy keeps her able to focus on helping her students accomplish their goals and her own passion for developing her skills as a coach all while she finished up her degree at Georgia Tech University in Bio-medical Engineering and is currently finishing her Masters in Anesthesiology at Emory Medical School.

Richard Spencer
Assistant BJJ Instructor
Richard is a 2nd degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt who has won gold at IBJJF competitions in multiple divisions and belt rankings. Given this success, it may surprise some to know that Richard began his training with no previous athletic background or accomplishments. Accordingly, Richard is living proof that new students do not need to lean into previous athletic ability to find success or fulfillment at Unit 2. All that you need is dedication and hard work fueled by a passion for the path you choose.
Richard is convinced that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a life-changing art that provides one with confidence, health, a sense of accomplishment, and deep bonds with friends that become a family. His only regret is that he did not start training at an earlier age.
Richard is also drawn to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for philosophical reasons. As a martial art that can enable one to win a fight without hurting someone, Jiu-Jitsu strikes a balance between compassion for others and an ability to defend oneself. He believes that the applicability of Jiu-Jitsu to real-world self-defense situations is unmatched by any other martial art and that the necessity of training partners in Jiu-Jitsu makes it an inherently social activity where communication and interpersonal skills can blossom.

Bryan Simms
Assistant BJJ Instructor
Bryan is a 1st degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt under Professor Jeffery Boudreaux and Assistant Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Instructor at Unit 2. A lifelong martial artist, former high School All-State Baseball player in the Commonwealth of Virginia, and former Varsity athlete at Duke University, Bryan spent the first twenty years of his martial arts journey earning a Black Sash in Wing Chun Kung Fu, and Black belt in Kempo/Muay Thai based mixed martial arts.
At Unit 2, Bryan focuses his teaching time on the 13-16 year olds helping them learn self defense and competitive skills on the mat. He has three children who also train Brazilian Jiu JItsu at Unit 2.

Marshall Moore
Muay Thai Instructor
Born and raised on Kwajalein, a tiny Pacific island, Marshall is almost always either writing, traveling, or doing Muay Thai. He began training in L.A. in 2013. Always eager to learn new things, he is a firm believer in self-betterment and loves introducing new students to the Art of Eight Limbs.
Walking into a class where the purpose is to punch and kick each other can be intimidating, but Marshall cultivates an open, welcoming, and (most importantly) safe environment for newcomers of all skill levels. He loves educating his students on not only proper Muay Thai technique but the principles behind it — not just how to throw a particular combo, but the strategy underpinning it.
By day, Marshall is an award-winning short story writer and fantasy novelist. You can find his work here. His debut novel, The Pale City, releases October 2022 from Shadow Alley Press.
